In the 2025/26 season, Santiago Bürgi makes his debut at the Opéra Liège as NIPPERS in Benoît Mernier's opera “Bartleby”, at the Theater Heidelberg as VALZACCHI in “Der Rosenkavalier”, at the Heidenheim Festival as MALCOLM in “Macbeth” and he can also be seen at the Theater Erfurt in Astor Piazzolla's “María de Buenos Aires”.
At the Graz Opera he can be seen as PINIO in the world premiere of “Perfect Match” in the 2026/27 season.
Since the 2021/22 season, he has been a member of the ensemble at the Pforzheim Theatre. Here, he performs a wide repertoire in numerous productions, including Falstaff, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Carmen, The Merry Widow, and roles such as CHE in the musical “Evita”, JESUS in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, and HERMOSA in Offenbach's “The Island of Tulipatan”.
In 2024, he was successful in the title role of Offenbach's BLUEBEARD at the Hagen Theatre.
In 2020, Santiago Bürgi toured through the Netherlands, performing in over twenty cities in Philip Glass's “The Fall of the House of Usher'”, in an Opera2day production entitled "Opera Melancholica". He returned to the Netherlands in the summer of 2023, singing the role of ORPHÉE in Gluck's “Orphée et Eurydice” at the Festival Classique. In the summer of 2021, he made his German debut with the Vogtlandphilharmonie in the gala concert, 'Classics under the Stars'.
Previously, he had appeared twice during the summer season of the Schönbrunn Music Theatre in Vienna, where he thrilled audiences in “Die Fledermaus” (J. Strauss), “Der Vogelhändler” (C. Zeller), and “Der Obersteiger” (C. Zeller). A recording of the latter production was released on CD by the CPO label.
Santiago studied music at the Teatro Colón School of Art (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón), with Renato Sassola, Luis Lima, Osvaldo Peroni, Dario Schmunck and Raúl Giménez.
Santiago Bürgi is known as an excellent and versatile singer-actor. His repertoire ranges from early music to modern compositions.
Before moving to Europe, the Argentine tenor regularly performed at the major theatres and festivals in Latin America: in Argentina (Teatro Colón, Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Avenida, Teatro San Martín), Chile (Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile), Uruguay (Auditorio Nacional del Sodre-Montevideo), Mexico (Festival Cervantino-Guanajuato, Teatro Juárez-Guanajuato, Conjunto de Artes Escénicas Guadalajara), Colombia (Julio Mario Santo Domingo- Bogotá, Jorge Eliécer Gaitán- Bogotá), Peru (Gran Teatro Nacional-Lima) and Miami (XXIX Festival Internacional de Teatro Hispano).
Apart from his operatic activities, Santiago is also a much sought-after performer of art songs, oratorios, and popular music recitals. With his former prog-rock band “Fughu,” he released three albums. His first solo album, “Santiago Burgi-Trampolín a la Nada,” was recently released.
