was nominated by the Frankfurter Allgemeine (newspaper) BEST SINGER 2016/17 in the world of opera

for his portrayal of WOWA in Schnittke‘s ‚Das Leben mit einem Idioten‘ at the Giessen Theatre. At the Dresden State Operetta Bernd Könnes elaborated more than 35 roles, also in the light entertainment, which he succeeded in refining thanks to his recitating and acting skills. In such roles as FRITZ and PRINCE PAUL in ‘Die Herzogin von Gerolstein’ and his parade role, the WITCH ( in Hänsel und Gretel) and BLUEBEARD (Offenbach).

In the last two years he earned great successes at the Görlitz Theatre as the WITCH, MONOSTATOS in ‘Die Zauberflöte’, ALFRED DOOLITLE in ‘My Fair Lady’, BARON ZETA in ‘Die Lustige Witwe’ and as VANDERGELDER in ‘Hello Dolly’ at the Theatre Neubrandenburg-Strelitz.

In 2011 the experienced character tenor portrayed the title role in Offenbach’s BLUEBEARD also at the Dortmund Theatre. Recently, he sang SOLOMIN in guest performances of the world premiere production of Gerhard Stäbler’s ‘Madame la Peste’ at the Saarbrücken State Theatre and FRANZ (in The Tales of Hoffmann) and WOWA in Schnittke’s ‘Das Leben mit einem Idioten’ at the Wuppertal Theatre. At the Koblenz Theatre he was very successful in 201 as A POLICE OFFICER in Schostakowitsch’s ‘The Nose’. The German Newspaper Rheinzeitung wrote: Bernd Könnes gives the police officer an astonishing force in the extreme registers.

Under the musical direction of Hans Vonk, Bernd Könnes sanf MISSAIL and the 1st BOJAR (in Boris Godunow) in Enschede and Groningen. Further guest engagements brought him a.o as FRITZ FRITZ (in Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein) tothe Münster City Theatre, as WENZEL (in The Bartered Bride) to the Eutin Festival, to the Heidelberg Castzle Festival and to the Schwetzinen Festival.

Before, Bernd Könnes was a member of the Kaiserslautern Theatre ensemble. Here, he could be seen in such roles as DAVID (in Die Meistersinger zu Nürnberg), JACQUINO, PEDRILLO, DON BASILIO, STEERSMAN, MELOT, MESSAGERO, GORO, BORSA, OTTOKAR, but also the FIRST STRANGER (in Der Vetter aus Dingsda)

Herr Könnes hat mit Dirigenten wie Stefan Blunier, Helmuth Froschauer, Florian Ludwig, Daniel Raiskin, Constantin Trinks, Hans Vonk und Regisseuren wie Adriana Altaras, John Dew, Klaus Dieter Kirst, Jasmin Solfaghari und Wolf Widder zusammengearbeitet.

Recently, the artist had guest performances at the Dresden Semper Opera in Stephen Oliver‘s ‚Mario und der Zauberer‘ and at the Hagen Theatre in the German world premiere of the opera ‘Dancer in the Dark’.
