The QUEEN OF THE NIGHT is one of the most-sung roles of the Georgian singer. She sang this very role at the Mannheim National Theatre, the Basle Theatre, at the International Music Festival Gut Immling and at the St. Margarethen Festival in Austria. Lately, she also portrayed the role at the St. Gallen Theatre and at the Saarpoligon Festival.
Recently, she could also be seen in “Sleepless” at the Braunschweig State Theatre. Besides, she regularly performs at the Tbilisi State Opera in her native country Georgia.
Maria started her musical career with piano studies at the Tkibuli Art Academy in Georgia. From 2008 until 2012 she studied singing at the Tiflis State Conservatory. Since 2013 she takes part in a Voice Education and Opera Singing Programme at the Graz University of Music and Performing Art (Prof Claudia Rüggeberg) and also since 2013 she studies at the American Institute for Musical Studies in Graz. Here, she is coached by Maris Skuja. She took masterclasses with Christa Ludwig, Michele Crider, Angelika Kirchschlager and Rudolf Jansen in Graz. In 2010 she won the Premio Roma, which included a 3 months development course at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome (under Prof. Carlo Desideri).
With her strong coloratura voice the soprano won numerous Prizes, including the 1st Prize of the International „Accademia Belcanto“ Competition in Austria a the 3rd Prize and the the Prize of the Audience at the 30th International „Maria Caniglia“ Singing Contest in Rome in 2013. In 2011 she was awarded the 1st Prize at the 5th Musicians and Singers Competition in Georgia. In the same year, she was in the finals of the 30th International Singing Competition „Hans Gabor Belvedere“ – in Austria. In 2010 she won the 3rd Prize of the International Montserrat-Caballè- Singing Competition in Spain. She also was awarded the distinction “Most Promising Young Georgian Singer” , won the 3rd Prize at the International Singing Competition in Byulbyul in Aserbaidschan and was a finalist in the International Rolando Nicolosi Competition in Italy.
Already in the years 2009 until 2012 Maria Kublashvili had her first appearances at her native country Georgia. She sang Liederabende at the Kutaisi and Tiflis Operas and in Kiev. In 2010 she sang her first QUEEN OF THE NIGHT at the Die KÖNIGIN DER NACHT sang sie 2010 zum ersten mal am Staatlichen Konservatorium Tiflis State Conservatory and in 2011 she made her debut as GILDA in “Rigoletto” at the Kutaisi State Opera.
In 2013 the young soprano made her debut as FRAU FLUTH in Nikolai’s “Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor “ at the Graz Music Theatre. She also sang GILDA in “Rigoletto” in open-air-performances in the Mautern and Graz in Austria.
In the season I 2017/18 she had guest performances as NANNETTA in “Falstaff” at the Flemish Opera Antwerp.
A the Cologne Opera she succeeded in such parts as NANNETTA in Verdi’s “Falstaff”, OLYMPIA in “Les contes d'Hoffmann”, LUCIA in “TheRape of Lucretia”, WOGLINDE in “Rheingold” the MERMAID in Weber’s “Oberon”, PHILIDEL in “King Arthur” and The CRESTED HEN/ WOODPECKER in “The Cunning Little Vixen” m Schlauen Füchslein erfolgreich.
