The German-Dutch soprano, who lately had a permanent engagement at the Münster City Theatre succeeded here in such roles as Beethoven’s LEONORE or Mozart parts such as DONNA ANNA and VITELLIA. Recently, she convinced in SIEGLINDE (in Loriot’s ‚Ring on one evening’) at the Hagen Theatre and as ROSALINDE and the FIRST DAME at the Rostock Popular Theatre. Besides, she earned much acclaim for her guest performances as TOSCA at the Münster Theatre.

In January 2010 Ms Smits could be heard at the sides of Hans Sotin with the Bochum Symhponic Orchestra at the Cologne Philharmonic. This evolved another collaboration with Britten’s ‚War-Requiem’ and Mendelssohn’s ‚Paulus’, which she performed at the beginning of this season at the Berlin Concert House.

From 2000 until 2005 Stefanie Smits had a fix engagement at the Coburg Municipal Theatre as youthful-dramatic soprano, where she created a versatile repertoire with such roles as ARIADNE, ELISABETH (Tannhäuser), ARABELLA, MARSCHALLIN, TOSCA, MIMI, ROSALINDE and the MERRY WIDOW. With this repertoire she had guest performances at the City Theatres of Lübeck, Linz, Kaiserslautern, Regensburg and Bremen, at the Mainz State Theatre and the Theatre at the Gärtnerplatz in Munich.

In 2001 the artist received the Theatre Prize of the Coburg Theatre for her portrayal of Wagner’s ELISABETH. She was also awarded with a scholarship of the Richard Wagner Foundation Bayreuth, which involved Liederabend at the Villa Wahnfried. Besides, she sang this very role in a Tannhäuser gala performance at the sides of Wolfgang Brendel.

In 2000 Stefanie Smits was a finalist at the Concours International de Chant in Toulouse.
In 1997 she was a Prize winner at the Maria Callas-Grand Prix in Athens.
In the same year the artist was engaged as DONNA ANNA for Katharina Thalbach’s production „ Don Giovanni im E-Werk“ in Berlin. In summer 1998 followed her first FIRST DAME in the „ Zirkus um Zauberflöte“ produced by George Taboriat the Circus Roncalli in Berlin.
Meanwhile Stefanie Smits has made her debut as TOSCA at the Norske Opera in Oslo.
